About me

I manage BirdLife South Africa’s vulture programme. My research focus on the physiological impact of lead poisoning on vultures, as well as ascertaining the source of the lead poisoning. I represent BirdLife South Africa on the national Lead Task Team, a working sub-group of the National Wildlife Poisoning Prevention Working Group. I am also involved in the implementation of Vulture Safe Zones, a conservation measure that helps owners of private land to manage their property in ways that are safe for vulture populations. My work currently focuses on northern KwaZulu-Natal, as well as Transfrontier Conservation areas.
